Boots Order

First off I want to say most of what I ordered was in the 3 for 2 offer on in boots at the moment. Last week I decided to risk the Decolour hair colour remover. I tried to go blonde on an whim and lets just say it didn't turned out like planned. Afterwards I was talked into going brown even though I still wanted to try and go blonde. It was only a semi-permanent brown and it was starting to fade a bit so I decided I wanted to try the Decolour which was the main reason for placing the order because my local Boots didn't have it. I'll have a post on my experience with Decolour soon. That was the first thing in the basket anyway. This was 16.99.

Next thing in the basket was the Schwarzkopf got2b beach matt mermaid look texturizing spray. Normally I use the L'Oreal Studio Matte and Messy salt spray but I wanted to try something different this time. I've only used it once but so far I am very impressed. This was 4 euro. Not bad in my opinion.

Next is another hair styling product. I used to be obsessed with this. Like really obsessed I don't even know how many bottles I went through over the years. It's the Umberto Giannini Flirty Curls Scrunching Jelly. I used this so much. Not really sure when or why I stopped using it but really looking forward to trying it out again. This was 6.49. Normally whenever I bought this it was on offer in Boots. I think the offer I used to get was 3 for 15 or something really good like that. (I also found the Umberto Giannini natural curls styling spray amazing!)

The last two things I picked up for myself were a L'Oreal hair mask for frizzy hair and a Pro:Voke Touch of Silver conditioner. I've never tried either of these but they were in the 3 for 2 boots offer so I decided to give them a try. The last few months I haven't been the nicest to my hair so I figured it could use a treat. The L'Oreal mask was 8.99 but I got it free in the 3 for 2 offer. The Touch of Silver conditioner was 2.89 but it was also free with the 3 for 2 offer.

I also ordered a few bits for a friend. First off was a No. 7 Protect and Perfect serum which was 30.50 but you get 6.50 off when you spend 30 or more on No. 7 online so it came to 24. Then I got a Simple cleanser. I regretted getting the cleanser because I did not check the size of the bottle I was ordering. My mistake I'll know better for next time. It was a 50ml for 1.79. If only I had been paying more attention I would have waited and got a 200ml Garnier cleanser in Cara for 1.99. My own fault I know but such a difference. I know they are different brands etc but sufficed to say I not impressed with myself on that one. And finally I got a boots cucumber toner (150ml) for 1.99. The more I think about it I probably could have got something bigger and or better for that if I looked around. The cleanser and toner were the only two products not in the 3 for 2.

Top 5 Day Time Lip Combos

Truth be told a lot of the time I'm a disaster when it comes to lip products. I love them but since they are the last thing I do when I'm in a rush I tend to forget about them. Lately I've started leaving one in my bag but since I change my bag so often doesn't always work. Anyway for day time here are my top 5. :)

5. Wet n Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain in E127

 4. Peach Parfait

 3. ELF Studio Matte lip colour in Natural

 2. MAC Creme Cup with NYX mega lipgloss in Gold Pink

1. NYX Soft Matte in Milan and Mega Shine lipgloss in Gold Pink

Here are swatches of the combos starting with #1 on the left.

Mini haul

So lately I've been trying to be good, you know not buy anything. Key word in that sentence is trying. Surprisingly it's going pretty well but then again the few times I've been shopping I was alone that might explain why I didn't buy as much. :-P I still ended up picking up a few bits in town and I may have placed an order with boots that is expected to arrive during the week. Heehee. So excited!

So I was passing a bit of time in town before going for lunch and I went into Tally Weijl straight down to their sale rack and I saw this jumper and I just had to get it. I had something similar a few years ago from New Look but the New Look one was a bit bigger and baggier, not as nice of a colour and on top of that it didn't really wash well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the same doesn't happen to this one. It was reduced to 5.99. :)

I also picked up the Herbal Essences clarifying shampoo. I only recently heard of clarifying shampoo and a friend mentioned that the Herbal Essence one was good so I decided to give it a try. I am trying to grow my hair so I'm hoping using this once a week improves the overall condition of my hair. Guess I have to wait and see on that now. :) I kind of regret not waiting for it to go on offer though. If I remember correctly it was 5.79. I hope it's worth it!

The last thing I picked up was a Garnier mineral Invisidry roll on deodorant. Normally I stick to aerosols but recently I decided to go back to roll ons. I hate using aerosol in the room and going to do something else makeup or whatever and only being able to smell the aerosol, barely being able to breathe in the room it's just not good. So I was trying to decide on a roll on and this is what I came out with. It's anti-humidity, 48 hour non-stop, anti-white-marks, skin breathes, no alcohol and no parabens. I've been using it for a few days now and I must say so far I'm impressed. I paid 1.99 for this and today I saw it on offer in Dunnes for 1.47 I think. All I know is it was less than I paid. I really hate when that happens. Just goes to show you have to shop around to get the best deal.

So that's all I bought this week. Keep an eye on the blog for my boots haul sometime next week!

Mirror-less Makeup

Hey peeps. I have been planning this post for quite a while. I even had the pictures ready but between one thing and another I never did the post. So I decided to retry the whole thing. I do pretty much the same makeup everyday. Over time the foundation or the go-to eyeshadow might change but I think the overall look is pretty constant. I was getting ready for college one morning and as I did my makeup I noticed this consistency and I realized I don't even need to look in the mirror. I was shocked at how well it turned out the first time but like I said that was a while ago so I decided to try again. I tried to do my makeup as close to my everyday makeup as possible. So this is how it turned out. :)

So the picture on the left is all mirror-less. The picture on the right is the final look. I'll list the products used below. I thought it was funny at the time, another part of the daily routine I can nearly do in my sleep haha. Anyone else ever feel like this?

Getting the right foundation

Getting the right foundation can be a real pain in the backside. I am pretty picky about my foundation. I like medium to full coverage. It's hard to find a foundation with good coverage that doesn't feel thick and heavy especially on a small budget. I'm definitely open to suggestions by the way. :) I test the foundation before purchasing but I don't know how to tell if a foundation is more yellow or pink and which one I should be getting for my skin type. Any tips?

This time last year I was using a Maxfactor Face Finity 3 in 1 foundation. Over the summer I picked up a couple of foundations including two Revlon Colorstay, a Revlon Colorstay whipped, a Revlon Photo-ready, a Covergirl Clean oil-free and a Wet n Wild. A lot of Revlon I know. It was so much cheaper than buying in Ireland. I like the Revlon foundations although I think the Whipped one is a little to dark for me. All of these are in my New York Haul Part 3 except the Wet n Wild which I seemed to have forgotten to mention...oops. I picked up a Wet n Wild Coverall cream foundation in 816 Fair/Light I don't love this foundation but I don't hate it either. Matter of fact it has come in quite handy when I forget my foundation or when I'm nearly out. I have found it easier to apply with my fingers as it cakes up my brush after one or two uses.

Since the summer I have picked up a few more foundations including a Rimmel StayMatte, a Maybelline Dream Satin and a L'Oreal Paris Nude Magique. I thought the Rimmel StayMatte felt way to heavy on caked on me a little. The Dream Satin was okay not a favorite but not the worst. The most recent was was the L'Oreal Paris Nude Magique. Its so light sometimes I forget I'm wearing foundation. Its very runny. I wasn't to sure about it at first. I grew to like it once I got used to it. However towards the end of the bottle the coverage isn't quite like it used to be. Its hard to describe. The end of the bottle also seems to be a little darker.

The past few weeks I have been using the Covergirl Clean foundation during the day and the Revlon PhotoReady for nights out. I'm not loving the Covergirl foundation but it does the job for now.  I'm thinking of trying the L'Oreal True Match next. Anyone know if it's any good? How do you pick your foundation? Any one else find it very hard to stick to one particular foundation?
